PORT WASHINGTON, NY, October 5, 1998 - TDK U.S.A. Corporation (TUC)
today announced the acquisition of EMC Automation Inc., a leader in the

measurements. EMC Automation Inc., based in Austin, TX, will be operated
as a wholly owned subsidiary of TUC.
TUC President Ken Aoshima commented on the significance of today's
announcement, noting: "This acquisition is an important next step in
TDK's ability to provide a total solution to the problem of electronic
noise interference. TDK's product design knowledge in combination with
its core ferrite technology has enabled it to become a world leader in the
manufacture of radiowave absorbing materials, EMC* suppression components,
and advanced anechoic chambers. Now, with the acquisition of EMCA's test
systems capability, TDK will be able to add EMC test services for its
customers, thereby providing a complete solution from product design to
product certification."
Joe Sivaswamy, President of EMC Automation says, "There is perfect
synergy between the businesses of EMC Automation and TDK's EMC product
activities. Furthermore, TDK provides an established and professional
global sales organization to expand our activities and significant
financial resources to further new product design and development."

*Editor's Note: EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility). With more and
more digital electronic products being introduced to the consumer market
place and in daily life, problems from noise emissions are becoming
increasing important. Manufacturers of electronic products (e.g.,
automotive, telecommunications, office automation, industrial, etc.) must
comply with national and international EMC regulations, governing the
amount of noise their products emit and are susceptible to. As a result,
customers are investing in advanced testing facilities, in order to
measure EMC and to obtain product certification.
